Nine months later!

How things have changed over the last nine months! And no, I haven't had a baby! This little babe called Rosalie belongs to a good friend. I attended lots of craft fairs last year and met loads of great people, who gave me plenty of good advice. This year I plan to cut back on some of the fairs, but I expect I shall still attend those which are local.

For now I'd like to just share some of my work with you. And say a huge thank you to all those who have supported me so far. I'm currently working on a few projects which are commissions using the clients own flowers. I will be sharing these with you very soon.

Crazy!

Oh my goodness, it's getting crazy. Crazy for me anyway! I've had a good amount of interest in my work the past few days. So thank you to everyone who has been taking a look at what i do. I've had requests for one off art pieces, people interested in buying what I've already made and a wonderful request from a lady who is getting married very soon. She is having a wildflower bouquet and wants me to make something special with it - i'm so excited!!

I'm also working and planning like mad trying to prepare for my first craft fair. There is so much to think about, as well as actually making everything and of course pressing and looking after my lovely flowers. On top of all that things are really busy with the gardening business as you can imagine in May!

Anyway, here's what I've been working on this week:

Here's another Blue tit, this time in flight! Mainly made from primroses, forget-me-knots and daisies.
A bleeding heart here, with a lovely quote from the Dixie Chicks "How long do you want to be loved, is forever enough, is forever enough". I think this one would be cute for a new baby gift.
And here she is... my pretty little forget-me-knot fairy. She sold within two hours and I have had orders for more. Looks like it's a magical May!
I am currently working on scanning all of my pictures and will be producing limited edition prints in 7 x 5 and also small cards.

Maybe i'll see you at one of the upcoming craft fairs in South Wales. Or if you're from further afield and you would like to get in contact, you can email me at gardenerswifeuk@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks so much for reading, see you soon xx

Flowers, birds and Country music

Hello, I hope you've all had a good week. I'm a little late with my blog this time, my bad! I've been quite busy coming up with some new creations, I've been trying out something a little different. This Blue tit below has received lot's of great comments and I was quite pleased with it considering it's the first. Here you can see the drawing through to the finished piece.

I've carried on with my usual 'signature pieces' with some great quotes. Much of my inspiration comes from country music, which i just love! This first one is a cute little Cuckoo flower (i think they are so pretty), "The years went by in the blink of an eye, but i couldn't stop thinking about you" - this would be so cute as an anniversary gift. The quote is taken from (although slightly rearranged) a Tim McGraw song called 'Annie I owe you a dance'.
This woodland primrose had a magical feel about it for me so I've gone with a magical quote: "Magic is a gift that not all can see, but for those who can blessed are we".

And here I think these feel a little more modern (only a tad i admit) perhaps it's due to the different frame. Framing my pictures can make all the difference. I might not feel entirely happy with a piece and when i try out a different frame, it just fits! This first one, the viola says "If I had a flower for every time you made me smile and laugh, i'd have a garden to walk in forever". The second is made from bleeding hearts, "Love builds a happy home".

So there you have it! There's a little bit of what I've been working on. Now, I've got a bit of research to work on as I'm meeting up with someone from Llanyravon Manor tomorrow which is potentially very exciting! They have a craft fayre every month so I hope to get involved in the next one.

Take care y'all, and thanks for reading!

Excited!

Woo hoo I had my first two orders, I was so excited! Thanks to Martyne and Lisa I hope you love them. Martyne asked for a yellow and green colour scheme and specifically that wonderful quote from Shakespeare "When I saw you I fell in love and you smiled because your knew".
Lisa's request was for a Bluebell but she'd leave the quote up to me. I found a lovely verse from Anne Bronte's 'The Bluebell': "That lone flower recalled to me my happy childhood's hours, when Bluebells seemed like fairy gifts, a prize among the flowers". When Lisa explained to me that it was for her sister who'd say as a child she was going to live in Bluebell cottage when she grew up because she loved them so much, i thought it was ace! I couldn't have planned it any better had I have known, i thought that quote was perfect.
I've been working on a few more designs and learning along the way of course... This one below is my favourite. It's a little cuckoo flower and is so pretty. It likes to grow in damp grassy meadows. I've seen so many of them this year compared to last and i guess it's because of all that rain we had, as in floods!
I ran a little competition on Facebook this week and the cute daisy heart featured in last weeks blog now has a new home too.

That's all for now, it's nearly midnight and i need to get some sleep! Thanks for reading x

Bluebells and buttercups

So far, this week, I have completed a couple of designs and placed them in their frames. I have one using tiny wild geraniums, it says "Let's go... flying... take me anywhere the wind blows", can you guess where that quote comes from?

And I also have this cute little daisy heart - "I will go pick daisies and have a happy heart".

I have loads of flowers drying at the moment and I really hope they'll be ready soon so I can get on with the exciting bit. Most of them are little wildflowers such as the pretty little stichwort and of course I have many daisies and buttercups. I am lucky enough to have found a few early Bluebells; early in my area at least! My daughter and I keep checking on the mountain when we take the dogs out for their walk, they are just coming up. I'm looking forward to that one, they seem to be a real favourite, growing in ancient woodland they have a magical, mystical feel. I'm hoping to find some great quotes to go alongside them, sparking the imaginations of young and old.

I have found that the Natural History Museum have a great few pages to help identify the wild ones. They are also currently running a Bluebell survey, take a look and record where and when you have seen Bluebells.

If you would like to purchase any of my creations, they are priced at £15 each. So just give me a shout. You can contact me through my Facebook page : www.facebook.com/thegardenerswife

Thanks very much for reading x

And so it begins

Hello and welcome to my new blog! Thanks for stopping by to take a peep. I'm not sure which way this blog is going to go so we'll just see what happens!

For some time now i have felt as though something was about to happen. Do you ever get that feeling, when it's kind of on the tip of your tongue? Something you should be doing, or something you need to find? Well for me, for now, this is it! For those of you who know me, you'll know that i can be quite indecisive at times (that's an understatement i hear you say). Well I've come up with yet another idea and this time i'm going for it.

I started making these cute little pieces of wall art using beautiful pressed flowers and some lovely words to match. I only have a few complete at present but more are on their way and each have their own special story.

Well here's a few simple ones. The primroses are growing in a huge cluster in our garden underneath the Cherry tree and always provide a great display. I realise not many people would love to have buttercups in their garden but this one was picked on a lovely spring walk by my little girl Summer Rose, so it's extra special!

If you'd like to purchase one or have a special request, drop me a line. Either way let me know what you think. See ya soon.
